January 30, 2008

Hello everyone!!!!

Just finished up my write - up for my first DT assignment over at A Scrappin' Friendsy.  Make sure to check them out!!!

You_me

I used papers from BoBunny's Smitten line.  I'm not typically a fan of "pink" so I was a little nervous with this paper  - but I really liked the way it all turned out in the end:)  Of course there is some chipboard on there - I wouldn't want to disappoint everyone :)  I covered the raw chipboard heart with cardstock, then stamped scrolls all over it in chalk ink.  A few little cut out hearts glued down here & there and it was complete!!

We currently have 14 entries in the gallery & it is only halfway through the week - and I didn't even post the challenge on message boards this week like I usually do.  I think all my wonderful readers are plugging it for me!!  I have noticed many of you have added my link to your blogs or meet up groups or websites - I sooooooooooooooooooooooooo appreciate it!!  Thanks everyone :)  Looking forward to seeing more layouts as the week continues.

I had a wonderful chat over at My Creative Classroom tonight - you should really check it out if you haven't yet .  So many friendly people & FREE classes.  Don't miss out!

I'm going to keep it short tonight - I still have lots of work to do.  I do want to give myself a pat on the back though - I'm posting and it is before midnight :)

8 submissions already!!!

We have some quick scrappers out there :)  I have already received 8 submissions for our challenge this week - make sure to take a peek in the gallery & see the awesome work people have done already!!  I wanted to let you all know I came across a neat link to a website in one of my forums - check it out here.  It shows you a way you can make your own rack for hanging stickers, rub-ons, etc. - pretty cool!!  Currently mine are all in several drawers & I have to dig through them to find anything :(  I don't have a layout tonight but I do have a cute little V-day card:

Cimg0993

I used paper from Cloud 9 & SEI, a chipboard frame from Cosmo Cricket, and buttons from Autumn  Leaves & Close To My Heart.  The stamp was one of those $1 ones from Michael's!

Make sure you stop on over the My Creative Classroom if you have not yet checked us out.  Lots of fun things going on over there :)  I will be holding a live chat from 7 pm - 8pm EST time there tomorrow night.  Head on over, register (it's free), and come & chat.  Don't forget there are free classes & lots of cool challenges with PRIZES!!!

Speaking of challenges - there is another great one going on at my DT home - A Scrappin' Friendsy.  This week the challenge is:

What inspires you?
I’ve been going through old collected pieces of ‘inspiration’, cleaning out what no longer inspires me.
I still love this ad that I received and finally did something with it!
How does it inspire you?
Create a layout or a card using this mailing as inspiration.
I’m excited to see how it inspires you!

Inspire

Have a great Tuesday!

So there is someone else in my house addicted to chipboard . . .

I was in my craft room trying to clean up & little Ryan decided to eat something he found - a large chipboard button - guess he's a fan of it too!!  Of course I was freaking out because I had already covered it in chalk ink & was worried if it was harmful because the packaging does not say non-toxic.  I put in a call to poison control and all is good :)  Another adventure in parenting!  I had a great chat over at My Creative Classroom with some fellow crafters - it was so much fun!!  If you have not registered over there you MUST - there are free classes, challenges with great prizes, all-day chats - FUN, FUN, FUN!

Okay - what you have all been waiting for . . . who did I draw this week ?

Drumroll please . . .

I love the acrylic frames - I need to try those :)  Great job Shere & congrats - your pack of 142 chunky sticker letters will be on its way!!

Thanks to everyone who submitted - we had so many wonderful layouts!!  It is so much fun for me to see all the creative things each & every one of you do - such inspiration!!  Make sure to check out this week's sketch & don't forget the AWESOME goodie pack I will be sending out to one lucky person in celebration of being one month in to 52 Sketches . . . 52 Weeks!

Sorry, sorry, sorry . . .

It has been a crazy day - I was up until 2 this morning then slept until 6 then scrapped until 7:30 then took a shower to get ready for an all-day crop I was vendoring at (did I mention I was an Independent Consultant for MemoryWorks on top of everything else?) and then I came home to about 125 emails.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!  But good news . . . one of those emails was from a writer at Scrapnews & Reviews ezine who wants to include one of my sketches in her February article Fast & Fabulous - Using Sketches to Complete Pages!  Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'll give you more details & a link when I find them out :)

Back to business - it is Sunday & you know what that means - a NEW sketch challenge - are you ready??

Fat_5

Here's my layout based on the sketch

Wonder

I really liked how this one turned out - of course my husband said what's up with the halo around his face, shouldn't it be on top of his head?  I began to explain it was my way of creatively focusing on his face with a frame but then I realized it was a pointless conversation - to him it was a halo :)  Anyways - the papers are by Crate Paper (another vintage line I love).  I used lots of buttons - here's a close up of the frame:

Buttonframecu

The stitching around the journaling circle, title letters, and background paper is hand drawn (this is as close to doodling as I get).  Check it out:

Okay now what is this week's prize . . . well I have alot to celebrate & I feel when I have alot to celebrate, why not share the happiness?  Plus do you realize this week marks one month into 52 Sketches . . . 52 Weeks?  After this week some of you will be 1/13 of the way into getting 52 layouts done - kudos to you!!  So here is this week's prize :

Prize_week_4

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME . . . this goodie pack contains 3 spools of ribbon, 1 package of heart brads, 1 package of K & Co. Rub-Ons and 1 package of K & Co. Stickers.  How do you get your hands on all these wonderful things?  Just complete a layout based on this week's sketch and submit it to me - one lucky winner will be randomly drawn on Monday February 4th.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!!!  Have an AWESOME Sunday!

Today's Music Pick (I'm posting this song again because I LOVE it!):  Love Song by Sara Bareilles

I'm still here . . .

don't worry - I haven't up & left the cyberworld!  I missed last night's post - I know, I know - I been posting daily 3 weeks straight but it was a crazy night last night getting ready for an all-day crop I am vendoring today, getting stuff ready for My Creative Classroom's big kick-off today & getting the week #4 sketch challenge ready for today.  Yep, that's right we are in week #4 - one month in - and in honor of us reaching the one month mark & collecting over 75 submissions in our gallery during this month (and we still have one week left) I will be giving a VERY SPECIAL goodie bag  to this week's winner.  I won't be back from the crop until 9pm but check back tonight after 10 and I will have all kinds of good stuff posted tonight!  Have a great Sunday & see you tonight :)

January 25, 2008

Late, late, late . . .

I need to go to bed - it is almost 2:30 am & I am last minute posting.  This one is going to be a shorty :)  I have been working on numerous projects this week.  Tonight I am going to give you a sneak peek of my take on this week's challenge at A Scrappin' Friendsy.  The challenge was to create something using  jumbo playing cards (or 7.5" x 5" cardstock).  I used some chipboard (go figure) to create pages for a mini album.  Here's the first page:

Iadorecover

The papers are from Daisy D's new Valentine line called Maybe Baby - it is such great paper!  I added a rub-on, buttons, and ribbon on the album ring.  So far so good . . .

I have also been working on another online class for My Creative Classroom.  It will be an accordian chipboard baby album.  I'm using a chipboard box/album set & some great vintage style papers from Crate paper.  It's looking pretty good so far if I may say so myself :)  I'm actually using some Prima flowers which is a first for me.  I have the cover page done but I still need to glue it down.  I'll try & give you a sneak peek tomorrow!

Entries are still coming in for this week's sketch challenge (remember you still have almost 2 whole days) - I think we are up to 14 in the gallery.  Check them out!!!!!!

January 24, 2008

My style is back . . .

I mean scrappin' style - not fashion - I still need some help with that :)  Anyways after yesterday's creation (see yesterday's post) I was ready to come back to the world of vintage paper & one page layouts.  Here I am . . .

So_big

The papers are from Crate Paper (which by the way I love) & chipboard letters are from Basic Grey.  Their chipboard letters are the best deal around - easy to use, adhesive back, multiples of each letter and $5.00 a pack!  I covered them with some chalk ink & backed them with paper.  The cute photo corners (which may be a bit much - but you know my chipboard addiction) are from Fancy Pants & I made the stars with my Cricut.  I am really happy with my layout tonight even though it is one o'clock & I should be asleep right now :)

As of tonight we have 10 AWESOME layouts in the gallery - looking forward to even more throughout the weekend!!  Still toying around with the next sketch - I did get a new program called Print Artist (thanks to Dea for her suggestion!) which I'm still trying to master.  I did complete my sketch for Sisterhood of Scrap - check out their Saturday Sketch event - actually check out the whole blog they have different events/info posted daily!!!  Great site for inspiration & challenges :)  Anyways - I'm glad I was able to finish it tonight because it has been on my mind.  The layout above is actually the sample for that sketch challenge.

If you haven't checked out My Creative Classroom yet, check it out.  All the big fun starts Sunday with free classes, challenges, tips, techniques & more - but only if you are a registered user.  It's free to register so you have nothing to lose - but so much GREAT knowledge to gain!!  There will also be live chats every day - mine are scheduled for Monday & Wednesday (next week) from 7 - 8 pm eastern time.  I'd love to get a chance to chat with my readers so check it out!

I'm addicted . . .

to chipboard.  I tried so hard to create this layout today without it just to see if I could but alas - no can do.  At the end I threw on 2 chipboard circles, some chipboard circle frames & 2 chipboard scrolls.  Ahhhhhhhhh!

Santa

I haven't done a double page layout in a while - I've been on the one page kick.  It is actually really hard - with a one page I don't have to stress about balance as much.  I felt like the double page layout stifled my creativity -  plus I'm not into bold, bright prints right now - I like the muted, vintage looking papers - I'm going back to single page layouts tomorrow :)  In this layout I did use something new which was Heidi Swapp clear snowflakes:

Snow

I painted them red - super easy - and they were ready to go.  I glued them down with just a glue dot in the center.  I used Grungeboard for the title & painted each letter red.  Then came the last minute chipboard - oh the addiction.  I covered 2 large chipboard circles with green cardstock.  Then I added the sticker on one and stamped Christmas 2007 image on the other.  To create the red frame I took a chipboard circle frame and wrapped ribbon around it.  Then just glued it down to the chipboard circle.

Ribboncu

The 2 white scrolls were painted and glued with glue dots as well.  Voila - double page spread complete!

Layouts are slowly but steadily coming in - so far we have 5 in the gallery & they are all GREAT!  I think it is so neat to see all the different creations everyone comes up with - make sure to check them out.  If you haven't submitted your's yet - you still have 4 days!!!!!!!  Can't wait to see more:)

Is anybody looking for a good deal on adhesive?  My favorite adhesive to use is by Scrapbook Adhesive - I promise I don't work for them :)  When I was at CKC last summer there was a company called Scrapbook Pal that sold them for $4.00 each which I though was pretty good because I buy them at Michael's for $6.50.  Well they are $4.00 each & free same day shipping over $25.  I just bought a mess of adhesive & didn't have to pay shipping or leave my house - pretty awesome!!

Has everyone checked out my other "home" - A Scrappin Friendsy?  They have a great forum with lots of friendly people, weekly challenges, and a store!!  Here is this week's challenge (which I still need to start - hopefully tomorrow):

Hey Ladies!!

Hopefully you’re up for another challenge to keep the creative juices flowing. This week’s challenge will be to create something using Jumbo playing cards. Don’t worry, if you don’t have any you can just make them from cardstock. The measurements are 7.5×5. The choice is yours so let’s see what you come up with. Projects must be linked and posted by midnight (CST) on January 27th. Make sure you link your project to the thread in the Cybercrops & Challenges FORUM, not the blog!

The winner will receive a small prize, free with your next purchase from ASF! I will pick a winner, at random, on Monday, January 28th.

Have a great Wednesday everyone - see ya tomorrow!!!!

And the winner is . . .

Michelle with her layout on Thanksgiving.  Check it out below:

Thanksgiving

Thanks to everyone that submitted this week - we had 25 wonderful entries!  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with his week :)  Here is this week's prize:

Week3prize

These are black chunky block stickers from Making Memories.  There are 142 in the pack - lots of letters!  I always had a hard time with stickers because I could never get them lined up straight & it would drive me CRAZY!  So then I decided to back them with rectangular pieces of cardstock & voila - easy!!!!  Check out the double page layout I did below using stickers & this method:

10things

All you need to do is put your sticker on cardstock, and then cut around each letter with your paper trimmer leaving fairly equal edging around the letter.  Then just glue the cardstock down on your layout - I angle them back & forth so I don't have to stress about them being straight.   Here's a close-up of the stickers:

Happy Monday everyone!!!!!!
